Reduce heat loss, maintain body warmth with Cosy Pod

Cosy Pod uses technology commissioned by NASA and their research into the use of insulation materials and metallised surfaces because keeping astronauts warm in extremely cold conditions whilst on a mission was a major problem.  It was found that by combining conventional trapped air thermal insulation with a multiple mirror finish surface which reflects infrared heat away from a product or a person contained within, the product or person would stay warmer using their own body heat for long periods of time.   

With several successful space missions since the technology, known as Flectalon, was introduced the material is now being used in extreme survival conditions in clothing, blankets and in other equipment at temperatures as low as -40%. A UK company, Enviro-Pod, is now using a UK manufacturing plant to produce products using Flectalon technology in a variety of different guises all aimed at keeping products or people warmer for long periods of time. 

The technology has many uses in the home and is particularly useful in the winter months when heating and fuel costs are high and can affect the vulnerable, particularly the elderly. It is estimated that between December and March, on average 25,000 more elderly people die than during any other time in the year. A significant number of these deaths can be attributed to the lack of heat and insulation in homes. Many of those affected live alone on basic pensions without the means to do anything about it.

Enviro-pod has introduced the Cosy Pod to its range of heat retaining products. Cosy Pod is a lightweight heat retaining blanket ideal for use in the home and in the car.
